About Dar
Dar, her husband Ed and their three children lived overseas for 15 years prior to moving to Alaska. Ed was an active member of the United States Air Force. They spent 10 years at Ramstein AB, in Kaiserslautern, Germany and five years at Kadena AB in Okinawa, Japan.
Early in her career and living in Japan, Dar worked with the Army Veterinary Corp for five years. She was also an energetic full time mom to their three small children.
For the next twelve years, while living in Germany and Alaska, Dar was the European and Far East Regional Manager for L.J. Elkin Marketing, Inc. Her region of responsibility while in Germany covered most of Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean and Southwest Asia. When Ed transferred with the Air Force to Alaska, Dar kept her position and continued her employment with L.J. Elkin, Inc. She then managed the Far East, Pacific Northwest, Guam, Korea, Japan, Washington, Montana, Hawaii, and Alaska. She directed over 100 employees; designed and directed marketing, product orders, distribution and stocking for well over 6000 grocery and hard lines throughout the military Commissary & BX systems.
Dar moved to Anchorage, Alaska with her family in 1998. Carol Butler, RE/MAX Alaska's #1 performing licensee, now retired, recognized Dar's personality, management experience, sales and marketing knowledge would translate perfectly into a residential real estate career. She approached Dar with an offer to become business partners.
Immediately, the Butler-Walden Team became RE/MAX's #1 Team and has become one of the most recognizable names in Anchorage Real Estate. RE/MAX International acknowledged her efforts as well. She was chosen as a Chairman's Club Member and received the Diamond Award, RE/MAX's highest level of recognition.
Dar has a passion for families, community involvement, and professional affiliations which include: Anchorage Concert Association, Musicians and Artists in Schools, Arctic Gymnastics Booster Club, Alaska and National Associations of Realtors, Certified Residential Specialists, Graduate Realtor Institute, Real Estate Marketing Network, RE/MAX International Chairman's Club, Lake Louise Wolfpack Snow Machine Club and the Boys and Girls Club.
